4A Region III District 17 recap September 24, 2013
East View scaled the state rankings by moving to 228 from 328 this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region III District 17. East View was able to move up by beating Pflugerville Connally 56-35.
Elgin was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Georgetown. The Wildcats came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 56 last week.
Elgin's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Te'Rel Simmons threw for 189 yards and Anthony Nash had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Simmons contributed 196 yards. Da'Trean Simmons helped Elgin's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 73 yards.

Georgetown's Ben Bottlinger and Camden Lepley have formed a dream team this season, leading 4A Region III District 17 in both passing and receiving yards. Bottlinger has thrown for 552 yards this season, while Lepley, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 28 catches for 279 yards. Elgin's Simmons leads the league in rushing yards with 609.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Manor takes on the Eagles. As it stands, the Mustangs are in first, while Georgetown is in fourth.
Manor added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bastrop, 26-23. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Mustangs.
