Luther is 0-4 against Aquinas since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Luther Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Aquinas Blugolds at 7:15 p.m. Luther will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Aquinas is ranked 46th).
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Luther had to settle for a 36-33 loss against Sparta. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Luther has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Aquinas waltzed into their contest Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against La Crosse Central by a score of 59-47.
Aquinas found their leader in underclassman Samantha Davis, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Davis' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Willenbring, who scored seven points.
Luther's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Aquinas, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Luther suffered a grim 58-35 defeat to Aquinas in their previous matchup back in February. Thankfully for Luther, Macy Donarski (who scored 18 points along with seven assists and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
