Parkview is 1-7 against Fall River since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Pirates at 5:00 p.m.
Parkview is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Palmyra-Eagle, falling 7-0.
While Fall River didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Randolph a 13-0 shutout on Thursday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.
Connor Veith and Kaden Seim made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Veith kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Seim tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Veith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Veith went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Seim went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Veith has hit this season.
In other batting news, Tyler Coloso was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Ethan Stai was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Fall River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory (which was Fall River's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Parkview, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Parkview might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Fall River in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
