Softball Recap: Emerson Wins Going Away Against Centennial

Emerson won the last time they faced Centennial and things went their way on Monday too. The Emerson Mavericks put the hurt on the Centennial Titans with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by nine runs or more this season.

Addison Hudnall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ellie Thurman was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Gianna Lipsky was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Emerson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Emerson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Centennial's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Coming up, Emerson will head out to take on Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on March 24th. Liberty will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Emerson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Centennial, they will challenge Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on March 26th.
