Plant City extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 16-6 in the process. They blew past the Jefferson Dragons 13-3. Considering the Raiders have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayleigh Gibbs made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gibbs was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Kyleigh Meiers was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Jordan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Plant City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in four consecutive matchups.
As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. They haven't had much luck with Plant City recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
On Jefferson's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amaris Dominguez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Coming up, Plant City is taking a road trip to take on King at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. The Dragons are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
