Basketball Recap: Princeton Piles Up the Points Against Middletown

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Princeton had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They blew past the Middletown Middies 62-29. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Princeton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mari Gerton led the charge by en route to 15 points and four steals. Gerton's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Thomas, who to rack up 13 points.

Princeton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Middletown and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Princeton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-57 win against Sycamore on the 22nd. Middletown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
