The Patrick County Cougars will challenge the Chatham Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Patrick County 3, Chatham 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Patrick County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top against Dan River by a score of 10-5. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Journey Moore was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Moore was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Lilly Hazelwood was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Hiatt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Patrick County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Chatham came out on top against Floyd County on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Cavaliers put the hurt on the Buffaloes with a sharp 8-2 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Cavaliers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Corra Liggon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Liggon was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Chatham let Jasmine Smoot and Gabrielle Custer run wild. Smoot went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double, while Custer went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Custer's first of the season. Abigail Custer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Chatham now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Patrick County, their record is now 17-4.
Chatham's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Patrick County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. It's a different story for Chatham, though, as they've only averaged .338. Will they be able to contain Patrick County's hitters?
Patrick County came out on top in a nail-biter against Chatham in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
