The Plattsburg Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Lawson Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plattsburg is looking to tack on another W to their 12-game streak on the road.
Even though Lexington scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, Plattsburg still came out on top. Plattsburg managed a 65-59 win over Lexington.
It was another big night for Michael "isaia" Howard, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Plattsburg's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Langton, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Lawson suffered their biggest defeat yet this season two weeks ago. They took a serious blow against East Buchanan, falling 60-23. Lawson has not had much luck with East Buchanan recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Brogan Crawford was Lawson's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Chase Jones took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Plattsburg is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Lawson, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Plattsburg have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 41.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Lawson, though, as they've only drained 35% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Plattsburg's way against Lawson in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Plattsburg made off with a 56-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plattsburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
