The Seaforth Hawks will face off against the J.F. Webb Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seaforth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Seaforth needed a bit of extra time to put away Orange. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Panthers 8-6.
Emma Grace Hill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over ten innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Hill was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with one home run and one double.
In other batting news, Annika Johansson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Abigail Johnson, who got on base in two of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Seaforth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, J.F. Webb finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They came up short against Cedar Ridge, falling 15-0. The shutout was out of character for the Warriors seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
Seaforth's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for J.F. Webb, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Seaforth has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like J.F. Webb struggles in that department as they've averaged .573. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Seaforth's way against J.F. Webb in their previous matchup back in March, as Seaforth made off with a 16-1 victory. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
