Thornton is 9-0 against Crete-Monee since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Thornton Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Crete-Monee Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Thornton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Crete-Monee likes a good challenge.
Thornton can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Thornwood with a sharp 68-42 victory. Given Thornton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Thornwood is ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meyoh Swansey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Morez Johnson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Crete-Monee posted their biggest victory since November 22, 2023 two weeks ago. They were the clear victor by a 71-48 margin over North Lawndale. The win made it back-to-back wins for Crete-Monee.
Thornton is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for Crete-Monee, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Everything went Thornton's way against Crete-Monee in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Thornton made off with a 80-60 win. Will Thornton repeat their success, or does Crete-Monee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
