Softball Recap: Garner Has No Trouble Against Corinth Holders

Corinth Holders typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Garner proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Pirates 9-2. Considering the Trojans have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabriella Czuczuk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gaby Mizelle, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Mayken Lynette was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Mizelle wasn't the only one making solid contact: Garner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Garner is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Corinth Holders, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3.

Coming up, Garner will welcome Willow Spring at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Storm have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Corinth Holders, they will head out on the road to square off against Southern Alamance at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
