The Eagle Ridge Christian Eagles's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Southland Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on December 21st. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Thursday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-31, which was the final score in Eagle Ridge Christian's tilt against Leopold on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eagle Ridge Christian has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Eagle Ridge Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Noah Simpson, who scored 14 points along with three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Simpson scored a full 45.2% of Eagle Ridge Christian's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Chase WIlliams was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Eagle Ridge Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Southland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against Holcomb, falling 68-38. Southland has not had much luck with Holcomb recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Eagle Ridge Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Southland, they bumped their record down to 0-3 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Eagle Ridge Christian beat Southland 60-51 in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Will Eagle Ridge Christian repeat their success, or does Southland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
