Bolles is a perfect 4-0 against Englewood since February of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Bolles will square off against Englewood at 6:00 p.m. Bolles is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Bolles will head out to face Englewood after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. Bolles lost 13-2 to Creekside. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since February 21st.
Bolles saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James McCranie, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Englewood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Wolfson 5-3. Five seems to be a good number for the Rams as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Ethan Anderson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over eight innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Englewood is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise. Anderson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).
Englewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win made it two in a row for Englewood and bumps their season record up to 7-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Bolles, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bolles has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Englewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bolles came out on top in a nail-biter against Englewood in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bolles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
