The Hopewell Vikings will face off against Sewickley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopewell will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Hopewell got the win against Moon Area by a conclusive 10-2. Considering the Vikings have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Allison Ramaley made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hopewell let Tallulah Showrank and Victoria Mann run wild. Showrank went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Mann went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Showrank has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Isabella Katkich, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Hopewell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Sewickley Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against South Side on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 4-3.
Charlotte Andrews (2028) spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 18 Ks.
On the hitting side, Sanaa Grant (2026) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Hopewell's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Sewickley Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-4 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Hopewell hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Sewickley Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
