The Centennial Broncos lost against the Central City Bison back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Centennial took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central City. Centennial has not had much luck with Central City recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alex Hirschfeld. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hirschfeld has scored all season. Ryan Richters was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Leading Central City to victory were Ayden Zikmund and Jakob Ruhl. Zikmund scored 16 points, while Ruhl dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Zikmund hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Jensen, who scored six points.
Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Central City, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Centennial won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Heartland at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Monday. As for Central City, they will head out on the road to face off against Fullerton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Central City is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Nebraska (they are ranked 27th, while Fullerton is ranked 201st).
