Jackson Prep has gone a perfect 5-0 against Warren Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Jackson Prep Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Warren Central Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Jackson Prep knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Warren Central likes a good challenge.
Jackson Prep picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over Lamar. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won four in a row.
Gardner Young was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he's hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Powell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Warren Central hadn't done well against Germantown recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Warren Central narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Germantown 6-4.
Hayes Loper made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Loper was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Beau Bradley tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Blake Caruthers, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacob Kealhofer, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Jackson Prep pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs over those games. As for Warren Central, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jackson Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Warren Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jackson Prep beat Warren Central 6-1 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jackson Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
