While it was all tied up 32-32 at halftime, the Gaither Cowboys were not quite the Gulf Buccaneers's equal in the second half on Monday. Gaither fell to Gulf 57-53. Gaither's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Gaither's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayce Humphries, who scored 17 points, and Rico Kindred who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Marc Fransberg, who scored nine points.
Gulf's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Holewski , who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydn Wood, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Gaither's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Gulf, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-12.
Gaither will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Hillsborough at 8:00 p.m. As for Gulf, they will head out on the road to face off against Anclote at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Anclote is on a six-game streak of home losses, Gulf a ten-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
