Mapletown is 0-10 against the Greyhounds since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mapletown Maples will head out on the road to square off against the Monessen Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Mapletown is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Mapletown pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Geibel Catholic.
Meanwhile, even though West Greene scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Monessen still came out on top. Monessen took their match against the Pioneers 66-55. The win made it back-to-back wins for Monessen.
Mapletown's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-14. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Monessen, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
Mapletown was taken down by the Greyhounds 80-36 when the teams last played back in January. Can Mapletown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
