After a string of six wins, the May River Sharks 's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colleton County. May River was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Colleton County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
May River's loss came despite strong showings from Joshua Hunter and Gage Duncan. Hunter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Duncan scored 19 points along with six assists. Duncan continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Tanner Macy was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
It was another big night for Mykeem Gant, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds for Colleton County. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Hamilton, who scored seven points.
May River's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Colleton County, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. May River will take on Hilton Head Island at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Colleton County, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th.
