The Williams Valley Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the Pine Grove Cardinals on Saturday. Williams Valley will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
On Thursday, Williams Valley got the win against Schuylkill Haven by a conclusive 11-3. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Sage Smeltz was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Williams Valley got a massive performance out of Audrina Fry, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs Fry has posted since back in April of 2024. Quin Smeltz was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Williams Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schuylkill Haven only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, Pine Grove didn't have quite enough to beat North Schuylkill on Thursday and fell 6-5. The game marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Hannah Aungst made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Callee Leffler, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Having lost for the first time this season, Pine Grove fell to 5-1. As for Williams Valley, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Williams Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Pine Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Williams Valley couldn't quite finish off Pine Grove in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
