On Thursday, the Liberty Patriots faced the Foothill Falcons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Liberty came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 62-50. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Liberty also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Liberty's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyus Thomas, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaeden Castillero, who scored 15 points.
Foothill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shawn Salazar, who scored 16 points. Christopher Natale jr was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Liberty's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. As for Foothill, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Gaels at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Bishop Gorman knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully the Patriots like a good challenge. As for Foothill, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Mountain Lions at 6:30 p.m. Sierra Vista will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
