Shelby is 10-0 against Burns since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Shelby Golden Lions will be playing at home against the Burns Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Shelby is ranked 393rd, while Burns is ranked 412th).
Shelby suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Thomas Jefferson, falling 72-41. Shelby was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-18.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jamiah Hopper, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nakia Blake, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Burns scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cherryville by a score of 65-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Burns.
Shelby has fallen quite a ways from their 26-2 record last season and are now at 5-10. As for Burns, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Everything came up roses for Shelby against Burns when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 55-24 victory. With Shelby ahead 33-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
