The Mars Fightin' Planets waltzed into their match Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-62 win over Lawrence County. The win was all the more spectacular given Mars' disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 205th in Pennsylvania, while Lawrence County is ranked 25th in Tennessee).
Ryan Ceh continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Mars' points. Austin Campbell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Mars now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lawrence County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mars and North Hills will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Lawrence County, they will be playing at home against Rockvale at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
