Lakewood extended the longest winning streak in 1A/2A Cascade this week by beating Granite Falls, 58-6. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Cougars.
Lakewood took down the Tigers 58-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Donovan Evans ran for 323 yards in the win.
Dan Teeter's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kolby Schueller threw for 92 and one touchdown and Brandon Stott had 53 yards receiving. Justin Peterson helped Lakewood's passing attack out by catching two balls for 27 yards.
King's's Billy Green and Caleb Taylor have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Green has thrown for 1821 yards this season, while Taylor, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 45 catches for 886 yards. The Cougars' Evans leads the league in rushing yards with 1094.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Knights and Lakewood. King's comes into the matchup ranked 13th in the state, while the Cougars ranks 22nd.
Going into this week's game against Lakewood, Jim Shapiro's team's Green needs 179 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
There should be lots of points scored when the Knights and the Cougars face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, King's comes in having scored 338 this season, while Lakewood has scored 351. The Knights scored 51 points last week as they defeated Coupeville.
