The Central Academy Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 94-52 loss at the hands of West Stanly. Central Academy lost against West Stanly in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 72-71 score last time.
Central Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Mcdowell, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Mcdowell's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Hoff, who scored 16 points.
Central Academy's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for West Stanly, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
Central Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Anson at 7:30 p.m. Anson is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for West Stanly, they will head out on the road to face off against Parkwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Parkwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully West Stanly likes a good challenge.
