The Ralston Valley Mustangs waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Legend with a 46-42 win. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Ralston Valley has scored all season.
Jackson Hansen was his usual excellent self, scoring 14 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Mason Trebilcock was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Several Titans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kale Sparks, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Sparks pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Whitehead, who scored five points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Legend smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ralston Valley only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Ralston Valley pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Legend, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ralston Valley will take on Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Lakewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Legend, they will be playing at home against Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Rock Canyon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine games.
