Chatfield is 1-6 against Columbine since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chargers will look to defend their home field against the Rebels at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, Chatfield and Arvada West were almost perfectly matched up, but Chatfield suffered a 28-27 loss. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Wildcats are ranked seventh).
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Cash Williams and Logan Duhachek. Duhachek had a solid game and threw for 192 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, Williams was balling out in the loss, throwing for 200 yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 67 yards.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbine, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-7 win over Denver South. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Columbine's win came from a few key players Chatfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lijah Vialpando, who rushed for 61 yards and two scores on only six carries, and also caught one touchdown. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mark Snyder, who rushed for 137 yards and one TD on only ten carries.
Columbine was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 284 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 224 rushing yards in six consecutive games.
Columbine's defense made their presence known, laying out George O'Reilly five times. Leading the way was Ayden Rubio with two sacks.
Columbine's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.7 points on average over those games. As for Chatfield, they now also have a losing record of 4-5.
Chatfield was taken down by Columbine 42-13 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Will the Chargers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
