The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars will head out to face off against the Del Sol Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pinecrest Academy Cadence has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Del Sol will arrive with five straight wins.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence fell victim to Rancho and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Rams, falling 15-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Cougars haven't been shut out since back in March.
Meanwhile, Del Sol made easy work of Western on Wednesday and carried off a 19-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kaitlyn Chairsell was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off only two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Del Sol got a massive performance out of Cainell (Nelly) McNary, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. McNary is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Breanna Figueroa was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
Del Sol always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted an OBP of .333.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Del Sol, their record is now 9-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pinecrest Academy Cadence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382. However, it's not like Del Sol struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
