2A Salt Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Kaleb (Bubba) Burras Crosses Big Stat Threshold

Starting off the list is Heritage Academy's Kaleb (Bubba) Burras, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. (Bubba) Burras rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 57 yards and a touchdown. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (103.4). He has become a key player for Heritage Academy: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

(Bubba) Burras must have San Tan Charter's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in October of 2023 (the last time (Bubba) Burras saw the Roadrunners), he rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.

Paul Soltero's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heritage Academy over San Tan Charter

Paul Soltero put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in October of 2023 on Friday. He rushed for 122 yards on only 12 carries, and also caught a touchdown.

For the year, Soltero has caught 8 touchdowns while averaging 52.2 receiving yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had four receiving touchdowns.

Benny Sharpe and Co. Win Eighth in a Row

San Tan Charter picked up their eighth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Benny Sharpe. Sharpe was dynamite, rushing for 70 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

San Tan Charter's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Sharpe and San Tan Charter will take on NFL Yet Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

San Tan Charter Wins Eighth-Straight Thanks to Uriah Neloms

Uriah Neloms's big game helped extend San Tan Charter's winning streak to eight on Friday. Neloms was dynamite, rushing for 92 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 110 yards and a touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 85 yards.

For the year, Neloms has thrown 18 touchdowns while averaging 153.1 passing yards per game.

Aaron Crawford Goes Supernova in Chandler Prep Win

Rounding off our Top Five is Aaron Crawford of Chandler Prep. Crawford picked up 220 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 86 yards.

Crawford and Chandler Prep will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 1st. The contest will pit Crawford up against the Heroes' star WR Paul Soltero. The only thing left to do is find out who's the greater deep ball threat. You'll have to watch the game to know for sure.
