Carol Koval made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ava Sharp was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Sydnee Kane was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Bushland made easy work of Dalhart on Tuesday and carried off a 12-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Falcons, who have now won five matchups in a row.
Brooklyn Briano tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Chayney Snelson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Piper Francis, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Bushland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.
River Road's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bushland, their record now sits at 18-11.
River Road beat Bushland 14-9 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
