The Creekside Seminoles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They took a hard 78-63 fall against Mays. While losing is never fun, Creekside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 439th, while Mays is ranked 70th).
Despite the defeat, Creekside saw an underclassman step up: Cadence Burch scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burch has scored all season. Tim Gaulden was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for Derron Lindsey ii, who scored 25 points along with six assists and six rebounds for Mays. Lindsey ii has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Germani Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Creekside bumped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mays, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.
Creekside will be playing in front of their home fans against Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mays on the road again on Tuesday and play against Villa Rica at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
