Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Range Mustangs vs. Douglas County Huskies

The Mountain Range Mustangs will challenge the Douglas County Huskies at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Mountain Range's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Last Tuesday, Mountain Range was able to grind out a solid win over Westminster, taking the game 61-54.

Preston Brunton and Moses West were among the main playmakers for Mountain Range as the former went 9 of 15 en route to 22 points and six boards and the latter dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. West's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jeramiah Chavez was another key player, putting up ten points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Douglas County played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Mountain Vista 79-46. The Huskies have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Mountain Range will have to contain Roman Saiz as he made an impact in Douglas County's last game. He posted 13 points and three steals. Saiz has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Dale, who earned 16 points.

Mountain Range's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Douglas County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mountain Range has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 27.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Douglas County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.4 boards.
