Last Tuesday, St. Francis Prep faced Nazareth in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Francis Prep was the clear victor by a 63-41 margin over Nazareth.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Stepinac waltzed into their game on Saturday with 13 straight wins but they left with 14. They pulled ahead with a 68-67 photo finish over Iona Prep.
Archbishop Stepinac's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Boogie Fland, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Fland hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Braylan Ritvo was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
St. Francis Prep's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Archbishop Stepinac, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
St. Francis Prep strolled past Archbishop Stepinac in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 73-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Francis Prep since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
