The Bishop McCort Crushers will head out on the road to take on the Bald Eagle Area Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop McCort is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Bishop McCort is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since March 26th on Friday. They lost 13-2 to Huntingdon. The Crushers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bishop McCort saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lariah Myers, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bald Eagle Area got the win against Bishop Guilfoyle on Monday by a conclusive 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Harlee Witherite spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Raelee Repasky, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addisyn Burns, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Bishop McCort's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Bald Eagle Area, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Bald Eagle Area's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Bishop McCort has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bald Eagle Area, though, as they've been averaging only 2.4 strikeouts. Will Bishop McCort keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Bishop McCort might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Bald Eagle Area when the teams last played back in May of 2016. Can the Crushers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
