Softball Game Preview: Rowlett Eagles vs. Wylie Pirates

Rowlett is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Wylie is on an eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Pirates at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Rowlett's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Naaman Forest with a sharp 15-0 win. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly 15 runs.

Baylee Grant was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Rowlett let Julissa Casta?eda and Jordynn Williams run wild. Casta?eda went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Williams scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, Williams posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Emma Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Rowlett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Naaman Forest only posted an OBP of .200.

Meanwhile, Wylie made easy work of Naaman Forest on Friday and carried off a 15-0 victory.

Wylie is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Rowlett, the victory got them back to even at 11-11-1.
