Leading by 44 points entering the fourth quarter didn't stop
Clifton-Clyde (Clyde, Kan.) from scoring, as it added 12 points in the final quarter on the way to a 62-6 victory over Lakeside (Downs, Kan.) on Saturday.
The Eagles were up 20-6 at the half after taking the lead on a
Caleb Gelino touchdown run in the first quarter.
Clifton-Clyde expanded its lead to 44 points entering the fourth quarter. CC scored seven times in the third, including once on a touchdown catch by
Alex Deaver.
Gelino and Deaver ran for a bunch of touchdowns for Lakeside. Gelino scored two touchdowns on the ground and Deaver added two as well.
Deaver stood out for the Clyde school in the win. The senior running back caught three touchdowns.
LHS's lone touchdown came on a pass in the second quarter.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Downs school took, 68-0.
The loss comes after Lakeside defeated Linn 32-22 last week.
Clifton-Clyde (3-1) will play a non-conference game against Wakefield next week, while Lakeside (2-3) will take on Pike Valley also in a non-conference game.
