Colony and Alta Loma are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Titans will be playing at home against the Braves at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Colony is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Alta Loma will be up against a hot Colony team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Titans walked away with a 5-1 win over Los Altos on Wednesday.
Steven Gonzales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Colony let Anthony Garcia and Ricardo Zazueta run wild. Garcia scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Zazueta went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Zazueta has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Noah Lara, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Colony hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Los Altos struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Alta Loma lost a heartbreaker to South Hills when they met back in March of 2018, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. The Braves came up short against the Huskies, falling 10-2. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Alta Loma saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant MacCharles, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Silas Granados also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Alta Loma's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Colony, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Alta Loma's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Colony hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. It's a different story for Alta Loma, though, as they've only averaged .215. Will they be able to contain Colony's hitters?
