The Dexter Demons will head out on the road to face off against the Cobre Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Dexter sitting on three straight wins and Cobre on six.
Dexter had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Hatch Valley, posting a 38-6 victory at home. Dexter might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven games by 24 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Julian Manzanares, who rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. Manzanares has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Kaesn George also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Dexter's defense and their five sacks. Enrique wyatt Sena was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Cobre two weeks ago. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Hatch Valley out of the water with a 40-0 final score. The result was nothing new for Cobre, who have now won six matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Their wins bumped Dexter to 9-2 and Cobre to 7-2.
Dexter came up short against Cobre in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 35-22. Can Dexter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
