Willa Adler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Genevieve Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Corina Griffone, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Alhambra hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, College Park was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They skirted past Benicia 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted against the Panthers since March 17, 2022.
Savannah Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Alexis Weiler was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
The win got College Park back to even at 10-10-1. As for Alhambra, their record now sits at 13-10.
College Park's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Alhambra has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for College Park, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Alhambra keep running through batters, or will the Falcons buck the trend?
Alhambra might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from College Park in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
