Memorial is 0-3 against John F. Kennedy Catholic since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Memorial Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Memorial will be strutting in after a victory while John F. Kennedy Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.
Memorial stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 69-36 win over Liberty at home. Given Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Liberty is ranked 749th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Memorial can attribute much of their success to Aziyah Flores, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and David Moore, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Moore hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Teyon Harris, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and six blocks.
Meanwhile, John F. Kennedy Catholic pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Gilmour Academy by a score of 64-61. John F. Kennedy Catholic has struggled against Gilmour Academy recently, as their contest on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Memorial pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36 points. As for John F. Kennedy Catholic, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season.
Memorial came up short against John F. Kennedy Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 72-60. Can Memorial avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
