The Agua Dulce Longhorns had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 45-14 victory over Woodsboro. The result was nothing new for Agua Dulce, who have now won four matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Agua Dulce found their leader in underclassman Lane Ranly, who threw for 171 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Benny Espinoza, who picked up 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Woodsboro's loss came despite strong showings from Amarian Zambezi and Brenner Kurtz. Zambezi rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while Kurtz rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Agua Dulce's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Woodsboro, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5.
Agua Dulce will square off against Pettus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodsboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bruni at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bruni will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
