Jasper (Mo.) saw its 21-point lead shrink to seven, but hung on to beat
Diamond (Mo.) 34-27 on Saturday.
After nabbing the lead on a
Payton Smith touchdown run, the Wildcats went into halftime with a 27-15 lead. The Eagles scored the winning points with a Smith touchdown run that came in the first quarter.
Diamond expanded its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. DHS scored once in the quarter on a touchdown pass by
Brodie Bien.
With the win Jasper extended its winning streak to nine games. Jasper defeated Liberal 42-6 last week.
JHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 40-22.
