Roxana is 0-5 against Breese Central since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Roxana Shells will head out on the road to take on the Breese Central Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Roxana comes in on three and Breese Central on ten.
Roxana scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Bunker Hill for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-41 victory at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Roxana has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Sean Maberry, who scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Walleck, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Breese Central beat Marion 45-32 on Friday. Given Breese Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Marion is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Roxana has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for Breese Central, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.
Roxana was taken down by Breese Central 58-24 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Roxana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
