Winning is just a little bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, a fact the Lewis Cass Kings proved on Saturday. They took down Taylor 51-36. That looming 51-36 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lewis Cass yet this season.
Lewis Cass was led to victory by Bryce Rudd and L.j. Hillis. Rudd scored 17 points, while Hillis scored 16 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Rudd scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brennan Deeter, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Taylor lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Connor Binnion, who scored eight points. Keyshawn Galloway was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
The win makes it two in a row for Lewis Cass and bumps their season record up to 5-8. As for Taylor, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis Cass will take on Maconaquah at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Maconaquah knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 contests -- so hopefully Lewis Cass likes a good challenge. As for Taylor, they will head out on the road to challenge Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sheridan is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
