Ck Boyles made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.
In other batting news, Reece Pleasant was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Hedrick, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Salem Baptist Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Caldwell Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to South Stanly.
Caldwell Academy also got a good showing from Liam Schooley, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Caldwell Academy is 2-1 when Schooley allowstwo or fewer hits, but 2-4 otherwise.
At the plate, Reid Silvers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Spencer McBurney was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Caldwell Academy now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Salem Baptist Christian, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Salem Baptist Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Caldwell Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Salem Baptist Christian couldn't quite get it done against Caldwell Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Can Salem Baptist Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
