The Halls Red Devils will take on the Silverdale Academy Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Halls barely beat Clinton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Halls never let Clinton get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Thursday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Emery Bales made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Bales was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Makaylie Hutchison and Adrie Johnston did most of the damage at the plate: Hutchison went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Johnston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Harper Bales, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Meanwhile, Silverdale Academy put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against East Hamilton. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Seahawks have posted since April 26, 2024.
Like Halls, Silverdale Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Airebis Cox. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Cox was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.
In other batting news, Allie Weber was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Heidi Bryant was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Silverdale Academy's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Halls, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Halls came up short against Silverdale Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Halls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
