Pinecrest Academy Cadence is 0-3 against Foothill since March of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars will square off against the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. One thing working in Pinecrest Academy Cadence's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
On Tuesday, Pinecrest Academy Cadence earned a 16-11 win over GV Christian.
Ava Englestead was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Destiny Aguilar was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pinecrest Academy Cadence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.4.
Meanwhile, Foothill's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Del Sol a 20-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Isabella Higuera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camren VanThomme, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Miller, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Foothill, their record now sits at 8-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pinecrest Academy Cadence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence might still be hurting after the 24-1 loss they got from Foothill when the teams last played back in February. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
