Two dominant in Lance Gifford and Ethan Thyne are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The North Platte Bulldogs will face off against the Sterling Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Platte has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
North Platte scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with a 79-68 win over York. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
North Platte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jesse Mauch, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mauch has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gifford, who scored 29 points along with nine rebounds.
Sterling posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Berthoud 50-47. The victory was just what Sterling needed coming off of a 70-29 loss in their prior match.
North Platte's record is now 3-7. As for Sterling, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
North Platte came up short against Sterling in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, falling 64-58. Can North Platte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
