Jillian Herridge was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sofia Alvarez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Ashlyn Woydziak was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Weiss hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Hendrickson and Elgin had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Hawks put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 14-2 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
Zoey Kellam was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Garcia, who earned two runs and four stolen bases.
Weiss' record now sits at 22-3-2. As for Hendrickson, their record is now 19-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Weiss has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Hendrickson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Weiss was able to grind out a solid win over Hendrickson in their previous meeting back in March, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the - since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
