Carbondale is 9-1 against Cahokia since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Carbondale Terriers will head out on the road to face off against the Cahokia Comanches at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Carbondale is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cahokia in Illinois (Carbondale is ranked 85th, while Cahokia is ranked 505th).
Carbondale unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 59-48 to Centralia. Carbondale has not had much luck with Centralia recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Carbondale had strong showings from Jaxon Marlow-evans, who scored 17 points, and Decarl Payne, who scored 19 points. The matchup was Payne's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Cahokia, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They took a 72-55 bruising from Mahomet-Seymour on Saturday. The loss was just more heartbreak for Cahokia, who fell 46-43 when the teams last met back in November of 2016.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Donald Collier, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zion Taylor, who scored 13 points.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 3-1 season records intact.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Carbondale hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.2 points per game. It's a different story for Cahokia, though, as they've been averaging only 40.8 per game. The only thing between Carbondale and another offensive beatdown is Cahokia. Will they be able to keep them contained? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
Carbondale didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cahokia when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 54-50 victory. Does Carbondale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cahokia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
